I think I finally got the hang of charcoal!!!(Even though I still hate it with the "fire of a thousand suns" ^_^) This drawing is actually 16" x 20" and is a final drawing for my analysis of form class. It took about 15 hours -I know kinda short-but I really feel that his character came through after all the cross hatching.
Oh and I apologize for the grid lines that are visible - I HAD to use them. Thank you for ignoring them to the best of your ability.
daaang girl! ^^ this is amazing! pones my charcoal one I did by FAR...lol, then again, I bet you've been learning so much more about art than I have *sniffs* ah the unfairness of it all...
still, good to see some new art.
i will say though, that the eyes seem a little...weird to me. *scratches head* not quite sure why yet, perhaps there's not enough details on the actual eyeball and iris and whatnot? then again, maybe that's just because i'm obsessed with eyes and usually spend more time on them than anything else in the picture heh...
still, those lips are nice. i always have soo much trouble getting the lips to look like they're NOT outlined...
I totally appreciate the suggestion! The reason I picked morgan freeman is mainly how characteristic his face is, and in this particular picture his eyes may look kinda weird, but they looked like that in the reference image - no iris detail. I wanted to add it in but I was only allowed to convey the reference image.
ahh, yeah, i figured that might be why. I always like to add extra shadows and highlights and even veins and stuff to my eyes...then again, I do them in color usually, not black and white.
and I suppose they're fine. I'm at home right now actually, i don't go back till next wed, and when i do I've got 2 more exams and 2nd semester starts feb 1st! so i'm stuck in my room most of the time doing this dang awful translation for my japanese reading class ><
on a brighter note, went to japan town today. yay! OH. guess what? I'm going to Meiji Uni next year in Tokyo!!! HURRAH! *ish excited*

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
